This week I am excited to share with you an interview I held with my new friend Cathy Demers.  Cathy is the host of a great business resource called the “Business Success Cafe” and  I was lucky enough to have some time to ask her a few questions about her business and wanted to share the interview with you so you could learn all about this awesome resource!

Tell us a little bit about your business …including the Business Success Café and Business

The Business Success Café is very unique because each presentation is only 20 minutes,
it’s free, and features global experts who will teach you what you need to know to be
successful in business. It’s the perfect coffee break for busy business owners!

The Business Success Cafe where success-minded small business owners just like you
gather to take a break from their hectic day and all the problems du jour, and learn from
business growth experts in a relaxed virtual environment. If you’ve been thinking “I need
to spend more time learning how to grow my business but I can’t seem to fit it into my
day” then this is the perfect solution for YOU.

You don’t need to carve an hour or more out of your busy schedule…each event is
JUST 20 minutes! You can attend from anywhere…there is no driving, no parking, no
hassles…and no tipping the barista.

Business Mastermind Teams was designed as a solution for small business owners who
don’t want to waste precious time looking for a group of their peers to collaborate with or
building a team from scratch, or worse – spending time in a mastermind group that is not
working for them.

Business Mastermind Teams provides all the features you want in a mastermind group
and none of the things you don’t.

What type of topics do you cover in the Business Success Café?

The topics are as varied as the challenges faced by small business owners everywhere.
From technical topics, such as how to get more fans to your Facebook Fanpages, to
general business topics, such as selling techniques or filling your workshops, to personal
development topics such as how to be more productive and get more done in a day, if it’s
of value to business owners – we’ll teach it! There is a new topic each week and folks
just love it!

In your experience what type of business owner would benefit the most from joining a mastermind group?

I am on a personal mission to ensure that every small business owner is in a mastermind
group of their peers – it’s that important. It really doesn’t matter what kind of business
you are in, finding a group of your peers that can help you stay focused, learn from the
experience of others, and keep your business growing and healthy is not specific to any
single type of business or business owner.

If you are finding it hard to create the financial and personal success you crave and deserve, if you are spinning your wheels, working hard but not getting where you wantto go fast enough, or if you lack successful people around you who truly understand what
it’s like to walk in your shoes, then a mastermind group is definitely for you!

What does a typical Mastermind Meeting include?

While some courses and group coaching offerings use the term “mastermind” a true
mastermind includes both a brainstorming with a small group of your peers, as well as
way for you to use the focusing power of accountability: verbalizing your best next steps
as a commitment, an important goal, and having someone who holds you accountable to
taking those important next steps.

What are the benefits of joining a Mastermind Group?

There are so many benefits to joining a mastermind group, it’s hard to list them all here.
The most important benefits include:

– Dramatic improvement in the financial results of your business and results in all areas
of your life
– Building your business know-how faster and with much less trial and error
– Honing your tactical and strategic business skills
– Receiving timely, objective and honest feedback on any idea or project
– Brainstorming with others who have been where you want to go
– Achievement of your goals faster than you ever thought possible!

Have you benefited from being a part of a mastermind yourself? And if so How?

Mastermind groups have been absolutely crucial to my success as a small business
owner. Thanks to my participation in a group of other small business owners several
years ago I co-founded a successful company with only $10,000 in start-up capital,
attracted a gold-plated client list, employees and investors…and even listed the company
on the stock exchange. Not only was my company worth millions, I loved building it!

The icing on the cake was when I was recognized by my peers with several
entrepreneurial awards, including the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award
(Western Canada), the Business In Vancouver Top 40 under 40 (which I have slight
regret I no longer qualify for) and multiple Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Even now, years later, I am in a mastermind group that is critical for both my continued
business success and my personal well-being and happiness. Highly successful
entrepreneurs around the globe participate in mastermind groups – because they work!
